Yes, Francis Ngannou is leaving UFC as his contract expires this year. Dana White officially announced his departure from the UFC, opening the door for rival companies to sign the former heavyweight champion. 

According to insidesport, he is now a free agent after Francis Ngannou was formally let go by the UFC. Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane will face off in the UFC 285 main event for the vacant heavyweight title.

The heavyweight division will continue in the UFC with a hypothetical Jones vs. Gane super fight, marking Jon Jones’ comeback from his battle against Dominick Reyes in February 2020.

Francis Ngannou said his knee surgery went well and that he is now prepared to get “back on track,” as revealed by thesun.

After defeating Ciryl Gane, 31, in January, the UFC heavyweight champion had to undergo surgery.

He told ESPN’s Marc Raimondi that he plans to make a comeback in 2023 after having surgery to repair his right knee’s ACL and MCL in March.

Ngannou admitted on Friday that he wasn’t yet mighty on that knee. “Look at how big I am. I must seriously take into account my weight as well as this division’s structure.”

Ngannou informed Raimondi that he was “extremely out of shape.” But before starting pre-training camp, he plans to see his doctor in Las Vegas the next week to get his body back in shape.

Francis was born to his parents in Batie, Cameroon. 

A fighter was raised in poverty & had minimal formal education. When Francis was six years old, his mom and dad got a divorce, & he was moved to his aunt’s House.

Ngannou started working in a Batié sand quarry at ten due to a lack of money. When he was a young lad, gangs in his village approached him about joining.

He declined, opting instead to use his Father’s unfavorable reputation as a street fighter as an inspiration to pursue boxing instead.
