I’ve been actively rebuilding my jeans collection. While it has been hard parting with styles I’ve been obsessed with for over a decade, it’s also been refreshing, breathing new life into the coveted fashion category. I’ve been looking at raw hemlines, retro silhouettes, trending washes, and even, dare I say it, low-rise cuts. While my pursuits of perfect denim has been fun and experimental, I quickly realized my go-tos will forever be a classic, high-rise, wide-leg jean. So naturally, I looked for a pair from the place I bought my previous styles from (and a brand Jennifer Garner wears): aka Joe’s Jeans. And right now, they’re majorly marked down on Gilt — a members-only sale site that offers deals on luxury brands. All you need to do is sign up for a free account with your email address.
It was a familiar feeling slipping into my latest purchase of the Chambray High-Rise Janelle Wide Leg from Joe’s Jeans. They come in a medium wash in sizes 24 through 32. They feature a high-rise design and a close fit at the thigh, opening up to a wide leg at the ankle. There are five functional front and back pockets, a classic button, and zipper fly closure, and they’re made of 100 percent cotton, making them soft on the skin but substantial enough to wear during colder seasons.
Joe's Jeans Chambray High-Rise Janelle Wide-Leg Jeans
I’ve been wearing these wide-leg jeans weekly for the last two months because of how effortlessly they fit into my daily uniform. They have a nice long length that is great for wearing with heeled shoes, and though these have a looser fit, they are snug around the bum and thigh, which is super flattering compared to baggy pairs I own that don’t do my rear end any favors.
While I’ve also given low-rise jeans a chance, I find that for my body type, high-waisted jeans just make me feel more comfortable and confident, and these don’t dig into my stomach like other styles. The fabric isn’t stiff and doesn’t need to be broken in, and after every wash, they get softer and cozier. The jeans work with the contours of my body and are thick enough that it keeps me warm on cooler days — no layering needed.
But the best thing about this Joe’s Jeans style is that they go with everything and are super easy to dress up and down. I’ve been styling them with off-the-shoulder sweaters, my favorite loafers, and a quarter zip-up sweater and sneakers on more casual days.
